News about Theo from Austria

Dear donors, today we received news from Theo’s parents – the difficult and complex surgery in Austria, which we informed you about earlier, has already been performed. The little boy went through another enormous ordeal. Incorrectly positioned hip joints were causing him severe and constant pain, as the joints were literally protruding outside his body. In Bulgaria, no specialists were able to take on this complex case, and help had to be sought abroad.

The National Health Insurance Fund covered the costs of the surgery and Theo’s hospital stay in Austria. At the moment, Theo is in a full-body cast, and the result of the surgery will become clear only after the recovery period. 

Now begins the longest and most difficult journey – months, and probably years, of specialized rehabilitation and physiotherapy. These procedures are extremely expensive and will be needed regularly and long-term.
